The Lay Ministries Path

The journey to a fulfilling lay ministry begins with a period of self-discernment. This is a time to prayerfully listen for where God may be calling you to serve.

The Ministry of All the Baptized

The Episcopal Church teaches that all baptized Christians are called to ministry. Lay ministry isn't "helping the clergy"-it's a vocation in itself, part of the ministry of all the baptized in worship, service, evangelism, and pastoral care.

"There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord... in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work." 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
